Welcome to the first day of your wellbeing Advent calendar! Today, we have started with a beautiful wax disk that releases its scent into the air and helps our wellbeing. We have slightly bigger (fatter) versions in a box if you like these - click here.
But how do they help wellbeing?
The way our brain receives and processes odors is complex and much still remains to be discovered. But there is no doubt that scent affects our mood.
Most people who walk into a room that smells of jasmine or lavender, are likely to feel calmer, citrus smells can invigorate us and vanilla or rose can comfort us.
The connection between scents and emotions is deeply rooted in our biology. Our sense of smell is directly linked to the limbic system, the brain's emotional center, which plays a significant role in mood regulation. This connection is why certain scents can evoke memories, trigger emotions, or even impact our behaviour.
Understanding the effects of fragrance on emotions, moods, and physiology can empower you to harness the power of scents to enhance your emotional well-being.
Using this knowledge we can choose wax melts, diffuser or essential oil, room fragrances or candles that support our wellbeing needs. Here’s a few valuable scents:
